Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a failed theft attempt, two women were arrested on Saturday for trying to steal gold jewellery from a shop in the Nagerbazar area under South Dumdum Municipality’s Ward No. 22. The incident occurred at ‘Maa Kali Jewelers’, where the accused posed as regular customers browsing gold items.
The duo asked to see rings and lockets, but while pretending to choose, they quietly hid two gold rings and one locket. However, the shopkeeper, sensing something was off, stopped them from leaving and immediately reviewed CCTV footage. Upon confirming the theft, the staff detained the women inside the store and alerted Nagerbazar police, who took them into custody. A formal case has been registered, and police say both women have been clearly identified through the footage.
